The
Park Hyatt is a 202 room deluxe European
boutique hotel, part of the 67-story Park
Tower featuring Chicago's most luxurious
condominiums, retail and restaurants. It
is located on Chicago's historic Water Tower
Square in the heart of the Magnificent Mile.
Classic and contemporary in design, the
lobby is adorned in warm grays and beige
neutrals that compliment the focal point,
the 1968 masterpiece by painter Gerhard
Richter, "Piazza del Duomo, Milan."
The front desk is made of temple gray marble,
black galaxy granite and glass. All rooms
have custom designed furniture from Istanbul,
Turkey and also contain classic architectural
pieces such as an Eames chair and other
elements influenced by Le Corbusier and
Frank Lloyd Wright.
The
hotel's guestrooms and public space
reflect a contemporary yet classic
modern ambiance with a comfortable,
residential feeling. The style is classic
contemporary. The design of the guestroom
bathrooms is of particular note. Sliding
cherry wood doors along one side of
an oversized bathtub can be opened,
revealing the guestroom and allowing
guests to create an open environment.
With the sliding doors open, guests
may enjoy the view of the city and
Lake Michigan from the bathtub. In
addition to the oversized bathtubs,
bathrooms feature an eight-inch flat-screen
LCD television visible from the bathtub,
walk-in showers with two showerheads,
double sinks and a compartmentalized
toilet area. Particular attention was
paid to the bathroom's luxury appointments,
which include faucets and accessories
by Italian manufacturer Colombo and
fixtures by Kohler and Grohe.
The bathroom
closet is also accessible from the
guestroom foyer. Guestrooms were designed
using a neutral palette of warm grays
and beige as a basis, accented by stronger
colors of cinnamon and blue. The room
was designed to be warm and inviting
and offers many design elements not
commonly found in typical hotel rooms.
Fabrics and materials are rich and
textural and include cherry wood, black
galaxy granite, mohair, leather and
etched art glass. All of the furniture
is custom designed. Decorative window
seats in most rooms are other unique
features. Each room contains well-known
classic architectural pieces such as
BRNO desk chair and an Eames chair
designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
and Charles Eames respectively, with
other design elements of the room influenced
by Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright
styles.
Each guestroom will be equipped
with four 2-line telephones with speaker
capabilities on the desk phone. Category
5 computer dataports will allow for
clearer and faster transmission. An
in-room safe designed to accommodate
a laptop computer is equipped with
capabilities to recharge while in storage.
For entertainment, DVD and CD players
are standard in each room, with selections
of complimentary DVD and CDs readily
available.
